Car fire inside a garage

Monday, June 2, 2014 A little after 230 in the morning Companies were dispatched to the 100 Block of Ridgeway Avenue for a building fire with possible entrapment.  Tower 5 arrived first and found smoke coming from a attached garage in the rear of the house.  Engine 2 arrived next and stretched an attack line to the rear of the property to the rear section of the garage.  Tower 5's crew forced entry into the garage and started a search while Engine 2's crew found a car fire which extended to a large cabinet containing flammable liquids.  Fire was knocked down with the hand line and a dry chem was used to fully extinguish the flammable liquids fire.  A second line was stretched from Engine 2 as a backup line.  Engine 8 laid out their entire bed to supply Engine 2 while Ladder 43 was assisting with the second line and ventilating the building.  Engine 8's crew removed the garage door for better access to the garage.  All searches were negative.  Crews ventilated the building and overhauled the fire area.  Engine 9 provided RIT for the fire ground.
