Kitchen Fire in Folcroft

Sunday, February 24, 2013  The Ladder was dispatched to the 1500 Block of Glenn Ave in Folcroft today for a building fire.  Command had a small kitchen fire that was  extinguished by the resident, the Ladder crew checked for extension in the adjoining house and found none.  Crew then stood by briefly and was released by command.



Working fire in Prospect Park

Tuesday, February 19, 2013  At 2:30 in the morning Company 8, 7, 2, 48, and RIT 14 were dispatched to 211 Lazaretto Road for the working fire. Ladder 2 arrived with Snozzle 8 and Rescue 48 and found fire showing from the second floor windows of an apartment building.  Snozzle 8 put a line in service on the fire floor while the Ladder crew threw ladders and opened windows and put the main to the roof for ventilation and aerial ops if needed..  Rescue 48 completed the search with the balance of the companies opening up and overhauling.  Company 12 and RIT 43 were added for manpower.  Due to the fast and great teamwork by the companies the fire didn't extend to other apartments.  Ladder 16 covered Station 2 while we operated on scene.



Cover assignment turns into a working fire

Friday, February 15, 2013  Ladder 2 was dispatched to cover Station 16 (Yeadon) while they operated on a two alarm fire in Lansdowne.  As the Ladder was heading to Station 16 they were diverted to a working fire in Sharon Hill that they were just blocks away from.  Ladder 2 arrived and had reports of possible entrapment from the police and immediately split the crew with 3 going into for a search and the driver and another throwing ground ladders and setting up the main.  Engine 39 (Lower Chi) and Squad 52 (Brookhaven)arrived right behind the ladder, who were covering Station 09 (Sharon Hill.)  The engine company put a line in service to the basement making a quick knock on the fire while the ladder crew finished it's search and ventilating the upper floors.  Crews assisted with ventilation of the house and electrical cords for lights inside. 



Station 2 going to work

Saturday, February 9, 2013 11:56 A.M. At 11:56 Companies were dispatched to 31 Amosland Road for a building Fire.  Dispatch brought Companies 02, 08, Ladder 43, Company 08 and RIT 09.  02-9 arrived on location and reported heavy smoke showing and a working fire on the front porch with extension to the second floor.  02-1 arrived on locaiton and put a 1 3/4 in service. 02-5 arrived right behind and proceded with truck company duties. Crews from assisting companies provided ventilation and secondary search.  Fire was brought under control within the first 10 minute mark.  Crews opened up and checked for extension. All crews were made themselves available without incident.  



Special Detail

Saturday, February 9, 2013  The members and officers have been working over the last week removeing drywall and pipes in preperation for the next phase of construction at the new fisre house. We will be continuing to work closely with the contractors and the borough to complete this project

Gas leak Outside

Friday, January 25, 2013 0903 Engine 2 was dispatched at 0903 hrs to 326 Chester Pike for a gas leak outside.  Arriving crews found a heater vent pipe from a neighboring building blowing steam from the heater system.  Borough Code enforcement was contacted and the scene was turned over without incident.



Company Drill

Wednesday, January 23, 2013 1900 Last night Crews staffed the Engine and Ladder Truck for Drill.  Crews were at Norwood School and practicing Ladder operations and Ladder Safety.  Thanks to all members who attended.
